6 November protests
6 November is the anniversary of the foundation of YOK (Council of Superior Education) and it is the most important action day of the student movement. YOK was founded in 1981 following the military coup on 12 September 1980 as a branch of the fascist junta in the universities. Since its foundation, it has been the force responsible for numerous privatisation plans, neo-liberal attacks and investigations against and penalties of revolutionary, democrat and Kurdish patriotic youth. The main demand of the student movement in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan is the abolition of YOK.
